The INITIAL BRIEF

What began as a test project quickly became a strategic content initiative for BWS. The goal was to create engaging, SEO-optimized cocktail content that resonated with BWS’ fun, unboring, and convenient brand DNA. The assets needed to drive website performance, boost social engagement, support supplier-funded content, and enhance seasonal product promotions.

With a small team of 3 – myself as Creative Content Lead, alongside BWS’ Design Lead and a designer, we had to be resourceful. Budget constraints required us to maximize efficiency while delivering high-quality, compelling content that could make a strong business case for ongoing quarterly shoots.

My Creative Footprint

From the outset, I collaborated with the BWS Design Lead to analyze trending content styles, ensuring our approach was both fresh and seamlessly aligned with the brand’s identity. Working within a tight budget, we strategically maximized resources – optimizing props, backgrounds, alcohol, and production costs, while leveraging technical expertise in lighting and creative shooting techniques to elevate the visual quality and deliver a polished, engaging experience.

We began by shooting in the studio, crafting a warm, lived-in aesthetic with artificial lighting to mimic natural home settings. The first rollout was a breakout success, leading to the official approval of No Fail Cocktails (NFC) as an ongoing, quarterly initiative. A major win came when the BWS marketing team chose our in-house team over their external media agency – a testament to the quality and impact of our work.

As the project evolved, I continued to drive innovation by suggested to shift production to Airbnb locations – an effective solution to budget constraints, styling limitations, and prop storage challenges. This approach provided access to high-end, pre-styled settings without unnecessary overhead. With the proactive support of the BWS Design Lead, we navigated corporate legal hurdles and secured the necessary agreements, streamlining a process that would typically take years in a corporate environment. This strategic shift not only optimized efficiency and costs but also unlocked new creative possibilities, elevating the overall production quality.

In later shoots, as creative direction evolved to highlight a more professional cocktail-making environment, the team transitioned from Airbnb locations to hiring external studios with commercial kitchens and abundant natural light. This ensured the content remained fresh & visually engaging.

Beyond content execution, I used this project as a platform to mentor and empower team members. What started as a hands-on production role for me expanded into a leadership and training opportunity. We introduced copywriters, junior & midweight creatives to content creation, giving them firsthand experience in shoot planning, animation, styling, and production workflow efficiency. Later, when a new content creator joined the team, I guided her through the process, gradually handing over leadership of the project while stepping into a strategic oversight role.

To ensure ongoing improvement, I regularly engaged with marketers to gather performance metrics, insights from BWS’s agency partners, and learnings on emerging content trends. By analyzing which cocktail videos performed well, we can facilitated data-driven discussions as a team, helping refine creative decisions for future shoots and ensuring NFC remained a high-performing, impactful content series.

The Result

The first rollout exceeded expectations, securing No-Fail Cocktails as a quarterly content series for BWS. As engagement grew, some cocktail videos became top-performing social content, strengthening audience connection and supplier collaboration. What began as a small, 3-person operation expanded into a fully structured team of 6, each bringing new expertise to the project. Production evolved from studio setups to Airbnb locations, enhancing visual quality while optimizing costs, and later shifted to commercial kitchen studios to keep the content fresh.

Beyond execution, the project became a training ground, equipping team members with skills in content planning, production, and automation. Stepping into an advisory role, I continued to track performance metrics, providing strategic recommendations to keep the project evolving in a data-driven and impactful way.
