The BRIEF

To produce a versatile collection of high-quality photographs that effectively showcase Dan Murphy’s Cellar at Martin Place. These images were intended to serve the diverse needs of various departments, including PR, social media, merchandising, and architectural planning, thereby enhancing brand presence and supporting future marketing and operational initiatives.

Store Information

Dan Murphy’s Cellar at Martin Place is a premium concept store located at the former Lindt Cafe site in Sydney’s Martin Place. The upmarket store features a spacious layout and heritage-inspired interior design, harmonizing with the premium range of wines, bespoke spirits, and curated beers on offer. The Cellar boasts a temperature-controlled environment showcasing rare, back-vintage, and hard-to-source Australian and international wines. Additionally, the store includes a wine tasting area, track lighting, and wall-length modular wine racks that stock rare and hard-to-source wines.

My Creative Footprint

Having worked with Endeavour Group’s brands for years, I understood the diverse needs across its teams and saw an opportunity to maximize the effectiveness of this project. Rather than simply fulfilling the initial brief, I took a strategic approach – expanding its scope to ensure the visual assets served multiple business functions. By collaborating directly with PR, marketing, merchandising, and store design & format teams, I consolidated shot lists and delivery timelines, aligning the content with each department’s objectives.

On-site, I led the art direction and execution, capturing the store’s defining features – from its heritage-inspired interiors to the temperature-controlled wine tasting area. Thoughtful design details were also brought to life, such as a vase deliberately placed where a natural beam of light hits the floor at the same time each day, a discovery made during the store’s design phase. By capturing this moment visually, I highlighted the meticulous planning and craftsmanship behind the space.

Beyond the shoot, I curated and adapted the visual assets to maximize their impact. Understanding the importance of showcasing the store’s range, I ensured the imagery not only highlighted the store’s premium selection of wines and spirits but also served as a valuable asset for merchandising teams, store format planners, and supplier liaisons. These visuals played a crucial role in sourcing rare products, planning in-store displays, and communicating the store’s unique offerings to suppliers. Additionally, I refined images for PR announcements, crafted engaging social media content, and delivered architectural photography that would serve as a long-term reference for future store planning. The result was a comprehensive suite of visuals that not only showcased the store’s essence but also provided lasting value across multiple teams.

The Result

The comprehensive suite of tailored visual content significantly boosted Dan Murphy’s brand presence across multiple channels. The merchandising team benefited from detailed photographs that supported planning and supplier collaborations, while the store design and format team gained high-end imagery that closely resembled their 3D renderings – providing a clear before-and-after visual presentation for management. These assets became invaluable in refining future store designs.

This project underscored my ability to strategically lead creative initiatives, aligning visual storytelling with business objectives. By anticipating the needs of multiple stakeholders, optimizing resources, and ensuring seamless execution, I delivered content that not only elevated brand engagement but also enhanced internal decision-making and operational efficiency.
